Types of residence in Egypt
أولاَـ الإقامة السياحية:
First: tourist accommodation:
يقوم الشخص الوافد إلى مصر خلال فترة شهر من وصوله بطلب الحصول على إقامة سياحية أو بغرض العلاج لمدة ثلاثة أشهر «استثناء للسوريين كانت 6 شهور»، وتجدد بعد ذلك ومن مميزات هذه الإقامة أن الشخص لا يستطيع المغادرة والعودة على هذه الإقامة وكذلك لا يستطيع تسجيل أبنائه فى المدارس ولا يستطيع العمل على اعتبار أن هذه الإقامة هى إقامة سياحية.
A person arriving in Egypt, within a period of one month from his arrival, applies for a tourist or medical residency for a period of three months (an exception for Syrians, which was 6 months), and it is renewed after that. One of the advantages of this residency is that the person cannot leave and return on this residency, and he also cannot register his children. In schools, he cannot work considering that this residence is a tourist residence.
ثانياَ: الإقامة الدراسية:

وتعطى للشخص الذى يسجل أولاده فى المدارس وهى أسهل أنواع الإقامات، فبمجرد أن تسجل الأطفال فى المدارس فإنه تمنح إقامة غير سياحية لمدة سنة قابلة للتجديد لكل أفراد العائلة من الدرجة الأولى، وهذا النوع من الإقامات تعطى الحق لحاملها بالسفر والعودة ولكن غير مرخص له بالعمل.

Once the children are registered in schools, a non-tourist residency is granted for a period of one year, renewable for all first-degree family members. This type of residency gives the holder the right to travel and return, but he is not licensed to work.
ثالثا: الإقامة الاستثمارية:
Third: Investment residency:
وتمنح للمستثمرين الذين يستثمرون فى مصر عبر هيئة الاستثمار المصرية وتمنح للمرة الأولى لسنة واحدة وتجدد لثلاث سنوات وبعدها تجدد لخمس سنوات، وهى أفضل نوع من الإقامات وهى مضمونة بنسبة كبيرة جدا بالحصول عليها وتعطى لكل أفراد العائلة ويستطيعون السفر والعودة بدون مشاكل .
It is granted to investors who invest in Egypt through the Egyptian Investment Authority. It is granted for the first time for one year, renewed for three years, and then renewed for five years. It is the best type of residency and is guaranteed to a very high degree of obtaining it. It is given to all family members and they can travel and return without problems.
رابعاَ :الإقامة العقارية:
Fourth: Real estate residency:
لمن يشترى عقاراً بقيمة 100 ألف دولار أمريكى أو ما يعادله بالمصرى يمكنه الحصول على إقامة لمدة سنة ولمدة ثلاث سنوات قابلة للتجديد.
Anyone who buys a property worth 100,000 US dollars or its equivalent in Egyptian can obtain a residence permit for one year and for a period of three years, subject to renewal.
خامسا :الإقامة نتيجة الزواج من مصرى أو مصرية:
Fifth: Residency as a result of marriage to an Egyptian man or woman:
وتمنح لزوجة المواطن المصرى أو زوج المواطنة المصرية ومدتها سنة تجدد بعدها لثلاث سنوات ومن ثم تجدد خمس سنوات.
It is granted to the wife of an Egyptian citizen or the husband of an Egyptian citizen, for a period of one year, after which it is renewed for three years, and then renewed for five years.
سادسًا: الإقامة بغرض العمل:
Sixth: Residence for the purpose of work:
تمنح الأول لمن يرخص منشأة فردية ويحصل على ترخيص عمل من وزارة القوى العاملة بعد الانتساب لاتحاد المصدرين، ويحصل على سجل تجاري، وبطاقة ضريبة عبر الغرفة التجارية مما يمكنه من الحصول على ترخيص عمل يمكنه من الحصول على إقامة سنوية، وتجدد دورياً ويمكنه منح هذه الإقامة لأقاربه من الدرجة الأولى.
القسم الثاني
إقامة العمل للعاملين فى الشركات والمصانع المرخصة فى مصر، وتمنح من مكتب العمل فى فرع الهجرة والجوازات الكائن فى المحافظة التى يقيم فيها العامل.

Second section
Work residency for workers in licensed companies and factories in Egypt is granted by the Labor Office in the Immigration and Passports Branch located in the governorate in which the worker resides.
سابعًا : إقامة اللجوء «الكرت الأصفر»:
Seventh: Asylum residency “yellow card”:
يستطيع الشخص التقديم بطلب اللجوء إلى المفوضية العليا لشوؤن اللاجئين فى القاهرة «الزمالك» وبعد المقابلة له ولعائلته يمنح حق اللجوء بحماية الأمم المتحدة وحق الإقامة فى مصر، ومدتها 6 أشهر تمنح من مجمع التحرير بالقاهرة على البطاقة الصفراء الممنوحة من مفوضية اللاجئين.
A person can apply for asylum to the High Commissioner for Refugees in Cairo (Zamalek), and after an interview for him and his family, he is granted asylum under the protection of the United Nations and the right to reside in Egypt, for a period of 6 months, granted by the Tahrir Complex in Cairo on the yellow card granted by the UNHCR.
